What I Can do for my community

The world produces about 400 million tons of plastic waste a year, but the recycling rate for plastic is even lower than previously estimated. This is where the picture comes in. We all understand that waste poses a significant threat to our world, country, nature, and, more specifically, our community. By incorporating recycling into our daily lives, we have the power to save lives. I mean, who wouldn't want to contribute to saving lives?

Consider, for instance, a teenager named Juan who enjoys drinking soft drinks from water bottles but tends to discard them anywhere – yes, anywhere at all. So, what do you think will happen to that water bottle? Naturally, it can cause harm to us. Let's say, for example, that the water bottle ends up in a canal and becomes the cause of a flood. In such a scenario, our entire community is adversely affected.

The impact of recycling the items we can recycle is genuinely powerful, as it can shield us from undesirable events, particularly floods in our area. Neglecting to recycle items that can be recycled is not just a missed opportunity; it's a collective loss. There's a saying that resonates with this idea: "If you want to save our planet, you must first save yourself from the temptation of indiscriminate trash disposal."

This explanation is meant to highlight the significance of the picture – putting a water bottle in the recycling bin – and how this seemingly small activity can have a positive ripple effect on the community.
